LaunchHype 101 Questions:
What is LaunchHype? (back to top ↑)
LaunchHype (LH) is a project that basically formed from the ashes of a site called ShirtLaunch.com (SL). With SL the site aimed to be a release calendar for indie clothing lines dropping new threads. The site allowed users to “hype” their favorite clothing line releases as well as discover new and awesome clothing lines. After a few months of running SL we decided that we wanted to do something bigger and better, thus the initial talks of LaunchHype began.
The idea behind LaunchHype is simple, provide a place for our users to keep an interactive release calendar of music, movies, games and clothing that will be dropping that month. A virtual coming soon page, basically. By signing up (free), browsing, and then “hyping” releases that look exciting you will start to form your own interactive calendar. Whenever one of your “hyped” releases is launched you will receive a notification or email to make sure you remember to check out whatever you were hyped about! With LH, you will never forget when the latest and greatest launches will be releasing!
LaunchHype is ran and operated by the owners of Blue Tide Productions, LLC (Zach Reed) and I Am The Trend (Adam Hendle).
What is a launch? (back to top ↑)
A “launch” is the LaunchHype equivalent of a “tweet” (Twitter), “post” (Facebook) or any other “item” you have seen on other sites. It’s essentially our lingo for an “item” on LaunchHype, that someone has submitted. A “launch” can be anything from a new music album by an artist or band, a new movie or documentary, an upcoming clothing line from a clothing company, or maybe even a brand new video game ready to make its way to stores.
What is a hype? (back to top ↑)
A “hype” is the LaunchHype equivalent of a “favorite” (Twitter), “like” (Facebook), “+1″ (Google+) or any other “add”-like button you have seen on other sites. It is there for you, the user, to click and easily add launches to your interactive launch calendar. We also use “hype” to determine how popular launches are. If a lot of people are “hyped” for a launch, then it must be something really awesome!
Wasn’t LaunchHype once ShirtLaunch? (back to top ↑)
In short, yes! ShirtLaunch was the prototype alpha version of LaunchHype. When Adam and Zach created ShirtLaunch that was the same idea as LaunchHype but only for clothing companies. It was doing so well that we wanted to spread the love to other categories like music, games, and film. So, because of that, we took ShirtLaunch down to create LaunchHype and to make LaunchHype packed full of more features and enhancements!

Submitting Launches Questions:
How to submit a launch (back to top ↑)
Submitting a launch is as easy as 1, 2, 3! First, login to your LaunchHype account then select “Submit Launch” in the drop-down with your username in the header navigation. This page is where you will find the LaunchHype submit form. Go through the form and fill out all of the required fields.
Step 1 of the form is the “Launch Details”. The “Launch Name” field is where you put the name of your launch, company, brand, song, album, film, game, etc. Whatever you want the LaunchHype users to refer to it as. The “Launch Website” field is where you put the URL for people to find more information, purchase your launch or find your website. The “Launch Type” drop-down is where you will choose the category for your launch. It can be a clothing, music, game, or film launch type. Based on what you choose here will generate step 3 on the form because certain launch types require specific information that not all of the launches do. The “Launch Date” drop-down’s are where you will select the date of when your launch is. The “Launch Details” WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get) is where you will write details about your launch. Some HTML is allowed here. Just use the WYSIWYG editor like you would in Microsoft word, for example, to build out your description.
Step 2 of the form is the “Launch Thumbnail”. Here, in the “Launch Thumbnail” upload field, you will select the jpg, gif, png, or jpeg image on your computer that will be uploaded as your thumbnail on the listing pages. If thumbnails are not exactly 277px (width) by 157px (height), they will be automatically cropped so please make it the correct size if you want it displayed correctly.
Step 3 of the form will depend on what type of launch you selected in the “Launch Type” drop-down. It could be the “Launch Images” if you choose to submit a clothing launch. It could be the “Launch Videos” if you choose to submit a game or film launch. Or it could be the “Launch Music” if you choose to submit a music launch. Each of the respected types will have the fields for your launch. Follow the directions for the fields for the respective type that you choose. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us using the form to the right.
Step 4 of the form is just agreeing to our Terms of Us and submission guidelines.
What to submit (back to top ↑)
Clothing Launches example. You’re a clothing company owner, work for a clothing line, own a clothing brand, etc. and you have a new clothing line or shirt coming out. You may want to post a few teaser pictures of the designers, a few pictures of the printed designs, or maybe even models wearing the shirts and a description with links to buy the clothes. This way people can get an idea of the line and how it will look. Clothing can include things like hats, accessories, sweatshirts, etc too. It is not just limited to shirts.
Music Launches example. You’re an artist, in a band, work for a band/artist or are an official representative of a band/artist and have an new album or song coming out. You may want to post a few exclusive tracks for people to get hooked and information on where they can pre-order. Or maybe a teaser track of the full album or heck, maybe you post the full album. FYI, any uploaded music is encrypted so we have gone out of our way to make your uploaded music secure.
Game Launches example. You work for a video game company, an online game company, or maybe a mobile app company and want to show off a new game coming out. You can post game videos from either YouTube or Vimeo and show off game trailers, live game-play, etc.
Film Launches example. You work for a film company, making an indie film, or maybe even a documentary. You can post film videos from either YouTube or Vimeo and show off film’s trailers, deleted scenes, etc. to gain hype for the release!
These are just a few examples, of course. There can be many other scenarios. The biggest thing we want to stress, which you will see in the submit form, is that you have the rights to post the content from the respected sources of that content.
What NOT to submit (back to top ↑)
We want to keep the quality of LaunchHype content high so there is a few things we would like to keep of off LaunchHype. Some examples of what we don’t want; “Music” you made in 5 minutes in Garage band on your mac and are calling it your “new album”. “Films” you made with your iPhone of your dog running around in a circle (keep that junk on sites like YouTube). “Clothing” or accessories you are making in a basement but really have no company or brand (Etsy is a good place for that). “Games” that are like drinking games or games in that aspect. We are looking for more of electronic, online, or mobile games that are from brands and companies. Other launches we want off LaunchHype are offensive, obnoxious, morbid, obscene, abusive, etc. launches.
All in all, we approve or deny all launches so if we feel the quality of your launch is not up to the LaunchHype standard, we will not approve your launch.
How long until your launch is approved and on LaunchHype (back to top ↑)
The launch approval depends on how many launches are in the que and when you submitted your launch. Generally speaking, it can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 48 hours. The 48 hours case would be if you submitted at midnight on December 24th (Zach‘s Birthday, actually! :) haha) or something to that matter. Both Adam and Zach hand approve all launches so be aware that we are normal people that sleep, eat, have other things to do. So, don’t be alarmed if the launch takes 5 minutes one time then a few hours the next.
We try our best to email everyone that has a launch denied and let them know why, so if you submit a launch and it is denied, you will know. If you don’t hear from us then that means your launch is still just in the que.
The best times to submit your launch are Mon-Fri between 7am EST and 8pm EST. You will typically see the fastest approval turn-around in that time frame.
How to delete your launch (back to top ↑)
To delete a submitted (and approved) launch simply go to the launch details page and click the “Delete your launch post?” link right above the “Launch Details” section on the left column.
Remember, if you delete your launch all information will be erased, as well as comments, hypes, any hypes a user had on your launch, etc.
Can I edit my launch once submitted? (back to top ↑)
Right now there is no ability to edit your launch after you have submitted it. If you feel there is a vital change that needs to be done, use the contact form to the right and get ahold of us. We will try our best to make a fast edit and help your launch get the correct information or details. In some cases, if the edits are major, we will just ask you to delete the launch then resubmit the launch with the correct details. Just get a hold of us and we will help! FYI, we plan on adding this feature in a future LaunchHype update.
